Full and Pleated White and Pink Floral Skirt 2 Ways

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

I have been loving this beautiful spring weather. I love bright colors and full skirts so I could not pass up this gorgeous skirt when I came upon it recently while shopping at Dress Barn.

full and pleated white and pink floral skirt, modest outfit ideaThe large floral print of this skirt is a mix of bright and dark pinks and bright and dark greens. I love that it comes in a large range of sizes, I know that I sometimes feel like I can find the cutest skirts in little boutiques, but as a curvier girl they don’t always even go up to a large or an extra large.

white and hot pink floral skirt modest outfit ideaOf course for me, because I love color, my first thought when I saw this skirt was, “How amazing would this be with more pink?!”

Really I couldn’t wait to get this home and style it with my bright pink tank I purchased from Dress Barn last summer.

White cardigan, pink tank/shell with pleated white and pink floral skirt, modest outfitFor an easy style mix I layered on a white short sleeve cardigan and a white pearl bib necklace.

Of course these hot pink shoes I scored for only $7 at Rack Room shoes, were the perfect finishing touch to this look.

black peter pan collar top and pink and white floral print pleated skirt with black sparkle heels, modest outfit ideaShared this look a week or two ago on my Instagram account (are you following me yet?) and I was fortunate enough to have it featured on the Dress Barn Instagram page and website which was pretty awesome.

You can check out the Dress Barn Instagram page HERE and check out the outfit feature on their website here.

I wish I had gotten a close up of the great sequin peter pan collar on this black 3/4 sleeve top from Ann Taylor Loft.

Because of the collar on this top, I don’t like to style it with a bib necklace even those are my favorite, so I wore this black tassel necklace that I found recently for $5 at Walmart.

These shoes are sparkly all over adding a dressed up look to any outfit, but the heel is low enough that I can be comfortable in them all day. s

Have a wonderful week.

Beautiful Blue Swing Dress
Perfect for Spring

I am so excited to share this dress with you. I love the warm weather that we have been fortunate enough to have here in South Carolina. I love being able to pack up my knee high boots and wear pastels.

The hunt is on for gorgeous spring items at super affordable prices. This great swing dress I am wearing in light blue is so great and is available in a variety of colors from Jane.com for only $16.99 plus shipping.
blue swing dress from Jane.com, super comfy easy modest dressSeems like everyone is always raving about these very comfortable dresses, and I know why. They are so easy and breathable and perfect for layering.modest spring swing dress in pastel blue

Also what is amazing about these dresses is that they have sleeves! I love that. It seems impossible to find a comfortable dress with sleeves.

I don’t always mind a sleeveless dress, but sleeves just makes everything easier.

modest swing dress in the perfect shade of pastel blue. Great for springIf you love a high neck line than these swing dresses from Jane are great for you. Seems like everyone is buying these in the long sleeve variety, but as a more recent South Carolina resident, I couldn’t abide by the idea of long sleeves in the upcoming spring and summer months. It is so hot here you guys, it is not funny.

layering my pastel blue spring swing dress with navy blue cardigan and bib necklace. Modest outfit ideaI chose to layer mine because it was a little cool on the evening I wore it out and the material is a little thin depending on what you are wearing underneath this dress.

short sleeve blue modest swing dress for springThis dress can be dressed up or down. It’s so super comfortable, it really feels like the world’s greatest, softest, stretchiest pajamas. They sell out fast on Jane, I was going to get another one in Coral and missed out, luckily they are still an affordable $35 on the Caralese website.

navy blue and pastel blue modest swing dress spring outfit idea. Teacher outfit ideaIt does wrinkle a little bit due to the flowy-ness (why isn’t that a real word?) of the material at the bottom. It made it through shipping and life with 4 kids and managed to look just like this the whole day so it is a win for me.

My navy wedges from Life Stride shoe are my favorite easy comfortable navy blue shoes. I sometimes convince myself I need one more pair of shoes in Navy, but then I stop myself (why do I do that?). These shoes are so comfortable I can chase my kids around in them for hours.

Do you have a swing dress yet? If not head on over to Jane and see if you can catch one before they are gone.

If yes, what is your favorite way to style it?

Snowy Style
My Out of Town Winter Outfits

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

So my loving husband had to drag me kicking and screaming on a near 20 hour drive to see our families. Really the drive is much shorter, but with 4 little children in tow, it never quite works out that way.

Of course I was crazy excited to see my family, and my kids kept asking me if we were going to build snowmen at Grandpa and Grandma’s house.

The thought of snow had me thinking though. I knew that it had been unusually warm this winter in my former hometown and I had written off the idea of snow, but the more the kids asked the more I got to thinking.

I’m not the sledding, snow angels, and snowman kind of girl. I usually stand on the side taking pictures while the kids have snowball fights with their dad, but I was thinking the one thing that was missing from my life were some great outfit photos with a snowy white back drop.

At the risk of packing yet another pair of shoes I did pack one or 2 extra outfits just in case.

Turned out when we finally arrived at the doorstep of my in-laws house it was in fact snowing. The first snow of the cold season for them, just so happened to occur at the time of our arrival.

I wish it would’ve waited until we got the car unpacked, but I am happy my kids were able to play in the snow and a few days later I did snap a couple outfit pics before it all melted away.

buffalo plaid peacoat from #burkesoutlet and red beanie, plaid and stripe pattern mix. My modest winter styleKeeping warm was serious business for me. It had not been cold in South Carolina where I live up to this point, and I did not pack correctly for the cold and windy lake front weather. This red beanie from Groopdealz was invaluable to me. If you have not shopped Groopdealz it is an amazing website that has great deals on boutique style clothing. I actually found this beanie on Groopdealz for only $6.99!

red buffalo plaid winter coat pattern mix with black and white striped dress and black knee hight boots, modest winter outfit ideaOf course I brought my favorite red and black buffalo plaid peacoat from Burke’s Outlet on my trip. I have warmer coats, with hoods, but I wasn’t planning on being this cold. At least I looked great, right? Quick steps from the car and back, no lingering, and I was fine, with the exception of a few outfit pics with my big sis.

buffalo plaid button up and black and white striped long sleeve dress, my modest winter styleOkay, confession time, I am slightly obsessed with buffalo plaid. If you had more than one conversation with me this fall/winter I have probably brought it up, and I am not sorry.

So now that we have that out in the open, you will not be surprised to see that when I took off my plaid coat I was actually wearing a plaid button up shirt in the same print and the same colors.

buffalo plaid button up tied over black and white striped dress, my modest winter syleI couldn’t hide how cold I was when posing for this shot. No matter how I tried, I just couldn’t get my shoulders to come down, taking my coat off was quite the shock. Don’t worry we didn’t stay outside more than a moment. You can also rest assured that it wasn’t as cold as I look.

I felt amazing in this 3/4 sleeve long striped dress from Jane.com. It wasn’t too dressy and it was heavy enough for the colder weather. Best part about this fabulous dress made by Sign Here Vinyl is that it was less than $20 on Jane!

It was hard to buy only one. You should definitely head over to Jane and check out there great deals.

This buffalo plaid button up shirt is a recent wishlist find I from Wamlart. My husband couldn’t believe when I exclaimed it was just what I’d been looking for, but I promise I don’t have one like it. It is perfect for layering and the price is perfect too.

Necklace and boots are from Cato Fashions, earrings are from Burke’s Outlet, and headband is from Payless.

white lace dress and cognac boots and belt my modest winter styleI love this dress I found on clearance at White House Black Market a few seasons ago when I was still living in Indiana.

I like it for spring, but couldn’t wait to layer it up for winter. It was pretty windy at the park by the lake so I might have to repeat this one so I can get a picture of it on a sunny and clear day in South Carolina, but mostly because I love this outfit.

white lace dress and cognac boots modest winter outfitThis beige cardigan is from New York and Company outlet, and my blet is from Cato Fashions. I always find great deals at Cato Fashions.

These amazing brown sweater boots are from Groopdealz! Yes, again with Groopdealz. Before I found Groopdealz I just owned less clothes. Groopdealz is really amazing and these boots were less than $30!

My bohemian style necklace is from Ebay and I think I payed less than $4 for it. Love finding fashion for a steal. Although, I admit, I have to repair jewelry I order from Ebay from time to time.

I layered my red sweater from Kohl’s over a simple white button up shirt I bought from Walmart.

I added my super gorgeous statement necklace I got for $16 at Rue21 a few months back.

Added my very long and very gorgeous beige tulle skirt I purchased from Amazon. I bought my  6-layer Midi Length Tulle Skirt for our family Christmas Photos and am so pleased with how lovely it is.

red embellished sweater with statement necklace and tulle skirt modest christmas outfitThis  6-layer Mid Tulle Skirt from Amazon is listed as midi length but hit my 5’3″ frame at my ankles. This skirt did have a length option, if you like the shorter style tulle skirt. The shorter length is great for less formal events or warmer weather.

red shoes and white tulle skirt modest christmas outfit ideaYou know you have a slight obsession when you are so excited that the snow is icy hard so you can stand on it in your red high heels. These red shoes from Shoe Carnival are another recent affordable find. I love, loving all my clothes.

A couple years ago I made the decision to only buy clothes that make me squeal. No more “Well it is the right price and it fits” decisions. It’s working out pretty well, I hope you agree.

red embellished sweater with statement necklace and tulle skirt winter outfit on benchLoved the contrast of the bright red against the soft beige tulle skirt. I will never tire of this necklace.

I am back home and ready to start a new year with new goals and things to accomplish. More on all that to come in a later post. Hope the new year is treating you all well, and thank you so much for stopping in as always.

Casual Christmas Style
12 Days of Christmas Outfits

Hello lovelies, I am so glad you are back here with me.

It’s less than a week until Christmas Day and I have teamed up with 11 other fashion bloggers to countdown 12 days of gorgeous Christmas outfits. I hope you have been following along on Instagram.

See my original post here to check out all the details and prompts on the #12daysofmodestchristmas fashion countdown, complete with lots of giveaways.

It is my turned to be featured and my style prompt is “Casual Christmas.”

I have already attended 3 Christmas events this year and I wore red and black and white to all of them in some fashion, though of course, no outfit repeats. Not for the events anyway, every other day is fair game for outfit repeats.

Since there is a ravishing red day coming up on the countdown and I have already styled several red looks including the 2 in my Burke’s Holiday Looks Feature You can Read Here, I decided to do something in a different color pattern.

I found two great holiday sweaters at Rue21 for only $10! They had those prefect holiday stripes on them so I bought one in red and one in mint. You ever do that? Buy something in 2 colors because you love it and the price is right?

mint and gray casual holiday modest christmas outfit ideaThis sweater was just too perfect, and a girl can never have enough mint colored clothing, right? Same thing goes for buffalo plaid, and mustard, of this I am certain.

mint green and gray, casual and modest christmas outfit ideaLayering a sweater over a button up shirt is a great way to keep stylishly warm this winter, and this sweater from Rue21 went perfectly with this black and white buffalo plaid top I found recently at Walmart.

This sweater is on sale again at Rue21 for $10 and you can check it out here. Personally, I super love it.

I wore my gorgeous sweater with this shimmery silver gray skirt I recently found at JCPenney. This is great for dressing up an outfit in a super comfy way.

mint and silver easy casual modest holiday outfit ideaEverything about this look was super comfortable. I could definitely wear this look at a party with all of my kiddos in tow. Even these madden girl gray boots were perfectly comfortable.

Being comfortable isn’t always my first priority, but I try to aim for it as often as possible, and this outfit is definitely in a winner. The boots have a low heel and should it ever decide to get cold here this is comfortably warm. Not as warm as when I styled my red coat in the 80 degree weather, I could wear this on a cool South Carolina evening.

mint green and gray casual christmas outfit idea #12daysofmodestchristmasThe details always pull it all together and I had some great ones this day. This necklace is an ebay find of all places for around $4 and contrasted well against the sweater. I found this gorgeous headband at Loft, they really have some amazing headbands you guys. Loft isn’t the type of store that makes you think headband, but if you are a lover of headbands as I am you have to check out Loft’s selection.

Now that I have seen the lovely headbands at Loft I can never go in there without checking to see what they might have on my visit.

winter blue and silver gray modest holiday outfit ideaI am rocking my embellished hoop earrings from Burke’s again, I just love them. Take a closer look at them in my Burke’s Holiday Outfits Post.

I love everything I have on here. I love the holidays and I am really enjoying doing these holiday looks with these great ladies on Instagram.

Here’s a look at some of the other outfits I have put together for #12daysofmodestchristmas.

It was dark and raining and windy, but I just had to get that outfit picture. My husband is such a good sport for balancing the umbrella in one arm while taking photos of me, meanwhile I stayed safe, and mostly dry under the awning by my garage.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Navy Floral Print Dress,
Perfect for Fall Floral,
My Sunday Style

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

I was so excited when I saw this dress go on sale on Jane.com, I am always a little worried about shopping online sites that don’t have brick and mortar locations for returns,  but this worked out just perfectly.

navy floral print tee shirt dress easy modest outfit idea for fallThis lightweight tee shirt dress was so very comfortable. I think often we hear the word comfortable and automatically assume that it cannot also be fashionable, but I think I proved that theory wrong here.

There is a hint of yellow in the print so I wore my mustard yellow cardigan from New York and Company outlet and my suede-like cognac boots to dress this up for Sunday morning.

navy floral modest tee shirt dress easy look for fall with bootsIt was a beautiful dress all on it’s own, but I loved the mint and navy contrast too much to leave out this beautiful mint necklace from Cato Fashions. They have really great prices on fashion jewelry, you hardly see anything from their priced over $14.99.

Boots are from the Jennifer Lopez collection at Kohl’s. She has amazing boots, and I’m concerned that I won’t be able to resist getting myself a taupe pair of boots from her collection during the black Friday sales at Kohl’s.

Shopping Black Friday at Kohl’s is so easy, unfortunately for my wallet, but oh so fortunate for my closet!

Great news about this dress is that it is back on sale today at Jane.com for only $22 plus $5 to ship! This dress is available in 16 different designs, from solids, to stripes to florals, you really should go and see for yourself how many great choices there are.

The dress I’m wearing in this post is the one pictured on the top left corner. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with this dress.

navy blue floral tee shirt dress from jane; easy modest styleThe floral print is perfect, and it is going to transition well into a spring dress as well. I wore it with mustard, but if you have to layer for the cooler days it would be equally amazing with pink, green, mint or navy of course.

I thought I had settled on something when I picked out this headband that I recently found at Walmart.

I have a better headband to go with this outfit, but after leaving that pile of laundry on my bed I was in no mood to basically start over with my hair so I just rocked the black, why not?

Long Sleeve Pleated Pocket Dress
My Sunday Style
Plus Where You Can Find One!

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

I recently ordered a gorgeous pleated pocket dress from GroopDealz. If you haven’t checked out this site you really need to head over there right away. They have great prices on beautiful boutique pieces.

I have been looking for a long sleeve dress with a modest neckline and length. Not too impossible until I factored in the price I was willing to pay. I searched and searched and came up with nothing until I checked GroopDealz.

On GroopDealz I was able to find this gorgeous crew neck, long sleeved black dress with pockets. I chose black, but it also came in two additional colors.

long sleeve black modest dress with pops of red and bootiesI absolutely love this dress. It’s soft, the length is just right, it can be dressed up or down and the price is perfect.

Even better it is on sale again right now.

You have to hurry with GroopDealz similiar to Groupon they get discounts on boutique items by selling them in larger quantities. Then the seller of the item ships everything out on the same day after the sale has ended.

groopdealz pleated pocket dressThis time around the dress is on sale for 4 days. That gives you until Sunday to get this amazing deal.

This dress comes in olive, burgundy, and black and is Lucy and Lyla Brand; one of my favorites.

I love that Lucy and Lyla is available through these discount fashion sites, and look forward to seeing what they have to offer at these great prices.

I purchased the black color of this dress, but every time I wear it I think about getting another. It is such a great dress. Can you believe that I didn’t own a little black dress before this?

little black modest dress with red accents, perfect for fallI had a few ideas of how to style this dress right out of the package. I ended up going with a few simple red pieces, and I loved how it looked.

I recently popped into Cato Fashions and found some red jewelry perfect for fall and wore all of it with this dress.

The red belt is from Walmart from last year, and my red beaded bracelet is an ebay find.

I had a hard time finding anything in a deep red shade on ebay as far as necklaces were concerned. I love a good ebay deal, and I have found many, but after a few h ours of searching I decided I was going to have to expand my search. Doesn’t take much to convince me to go shopping really.

I have 2 go-tos for affordable fashion jewelry and that is Burke’s Outlet and Cato Fashions. I also love New York and Company outlet, but it’s a little bit further from my home, so while I always stop in when I’m nearby, it’s not somewhere I drive by during my regular activities.

Cato Fashions had so much great jewelry you guys. They had every trend I’m wanting to stock up on. It was one of those days when you walked into the store and just wished you had unlimited funds so no choices had to be made and I could just go home with everything.

Alas, I could not, but I found some gorgeous things to bring home with me, and the pining desire to head back as soon as possible.

modest black fall dress with red jeweled bracelet and red belt

I think this bracelet is one of my new favorite things. It’s so gorgeous and sparkly, and I love sparkly things. I love the big colorful stones, and think this would be just as fabulous with clear stones, or cobalt.

This red necklace is a style I really like and I’m pretty sure I need this in another color as well. I have been wishing for something similar on Amazon. For now though, I am really enjoying this hombre red style. Perfect with this dress.

modest fall black dress with pockets and boots

oh those early morning curls so tight and lovely, they never last, no they do not. If you have been looking for something just like this (and I had a few ladies tell me that they were), then head on over to GroopDealz.com right now. I usually wear a medium or an 8-10 in shirts. I sized up and went with a large in this dress which is listed as a size range of 10-12.

I was actually concerned that it would be too small. But because it is a pull on style with a little bit of stretch to it, the dress fit  me just perfectly.

Usually with a more structural material, with maybe a zipper closure you may have to size it up, but this was really like a tee shirt dress.

I cannot find enough nice things to describe just how perfect this dress is. Really a dress for all occasion, imagine it with mustard tights or a cognac brown belt and boots.

Everything goes with it, and it also is great as a stand alone piece.

Run, run, run and get it, it will be weeks before it is available again, or it may not go on sale at all again. My experience is a month or six weeks, and things that are more of a seasonable staple will go on sale again on the GroopDealz site. Remember it takes a couple of weeks to arrive so, again, don’t wait to make your purchase.

By the way, the pockets were great. Actual, practically sized pockets on a dress. I was able to fit my cell phone in my pocket all day. I’m calling that a fashion win.

Really, GroopDealz is worth checking out pretty regularly. Although at some point in the season, you really will have to stop buying clothes (or so I’ve been told).

Mustard and Stripes
Favorite Fall Style Share

One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about living in a southern state this past year is the mild winters.

The heat is a lot to take in the summer, but they more than make up for it with 70° Saturday afternoons in November.

Warm weather or no, I am committed to wearing my favorite fall styles leading up to Thanksgiving. I love fall colors so very much, and since they do not have the gorgeous color changing trees the way I am used to I am just going to have to enjoy the warm colors of fall in my wardrobe.

Mustard and mint are my favorite colors. So I grabbed my mustard sweater and restyled this lightweight dress I wore during the warmer months to make it perfect for a fall day.

mustard cardigan, navy and white striped dress, and brown boots, modest fall outfitThis cowl neck striped dress is from Loft and has some rouching on one side of the waist that is so figure flattering, although I may have covered that up some with my belt and my sweater.

The dress is gorgeous all on it’s own, but I do love how versatile it is. this style dress is great and easy to wear many different ways.

mustard yellow cardigan and striped dress, easy modest fall fashion outfit ideaKept my necklace super simple because I didn’t want to lay anything over this more bulky type collar. This is the type of collar that lends itself perfectly to a pendant necklace, but since I was wearing a thicker belt I decided I didn’t want to have too many points of interest in that one spot.

These super comfy flat boots are from Kohl’s Juniors department. I normally like a heel, but I just wanted to show how super stylish an outfit can be even with a very casual shoe. Plus these shoes are very affordable brown leather boots are an easy wardrobe staple.

These boots from Kohl’s usually sell for only $30, pair that with a coupon and some Kohl’s cash and you can imagine the amazing deals to be had.

Mustard yellow sweater and striped dress. Brown boots and brown belt easy teacher outfitThis belt came with a skirt I purchased from Dress Barn a while back and hiding under my sleeve is a gorgeous navy wrist watch that is completely covered for the photos, oh well for all you see of it I should have told you it was covered in flawless diamonds, but I’m no liar.

I think I’m funny you guys, I can’t help it, and I’m not sorry.

Yellow cardigan and stripes, easy modest outfit idea for fall with bootsI really can’t explain how much I adore this sweater from New York and Company. They have some of the most gorgeous colors in their style collections season after season. Gorgeous greens and deep reds and bright pinks, I love shopping at New York and Company. If you have an outlet mall near you with a New York and Company it is so worth checking out over and over. Our location has a very limited display of new items, but they turn over often and sell out fast. I also stop in New York and Company when I am outlet shopping.

These cardigans run around $30 so they can be a little bit pricey if you are a “frugal fashionista” like myself. I try to keep my per item price around $20, but I always have a few items I splurge on and this cardigan would definitely be one of them.

I am definitely going to be wearing this yellow cardigan over and over again this fall, so I hope you love it as much as I do, cause you are going to be seeing it again.

I already have 3 outfits more all photographed and waiting to be edited that include this sweater, and they are all gorgeous.

Thanks for stopping by!

Black and White Buffalo Plaid with Pops of Red
Easy Fall Outfit

I am having so much fun putting outfits together for fall, even if it is nearly 80° here in sunny South Carolina.

I put together this really easy look that is great for fall and easy to duplicate. If you have seen my post on Great, Affordable, Fashionable Tops Found at Walmart, this outfit features one of those tops.

This great black and white buffalo plaid button up top was less than $14 and is easy to pair with lots of different colors.

black and white buffalo plaid with pops of red easy modest outfit idea

This was great and super easy and I bet you already have the pieces for this outfit in your closet.

The thing I love about black and white patterns is that they go with every color.

For a casual weekday night out I wore my black and white buffalo plaid top from Walmart with a thrifted black pencil skirt (found for only $2!) and my black leather booties.

Booties were a fabulous clearance find from Maurice’s I got a couple of summers ago. I love these booties so much and they really do go with everything, but I did manage to branch out from this only pair of boots I had and acquire a few more pairs.

black and whtie buffalo plaid with red accents easy modest outfit ideaSporting some new sunglasses today after apparently losing them at a a post zoo trip to Hobby Lobby.

Red belt is another great Walmart find, they sell some of their belts in 2 packs, for a great price. The trick is finding a pack of belts that has 2 belts that you absolutely love, or don’t already have. I bought these about a year ago and they are still holding up great.

red, black, and white easy modest casual outfit ideaRed necklace is from Charlotte Russe, they have great prices on their fashion jewelry. Topped it all off with my beaded headband from Claire’s. I really feel like I need a headband for every occasion and most of my favorites from Claire’s are around $7 and they are almost on sale BOGO 50% off, so they are usually less than $5 each and I almost always can find a coupon for 20% off my total purchase somewhere.

I like clothes a lot (in case you haven’t noticed) but do not have unlimited funds (wouldn’t that be nice?) so it is really wonderful when all these deals come together to make a fabulous outfit. Plus, I think it is fun hunting down all these style deals and then sharing them with you.

Thanks for reading. Have a great week until I see you again.

Teal Lace and Pleated Floral
Summer Style Share

On Wednesdays our church has a Bible Study along with children ministries that we enjoy attending. Even though the Bible study doesn’t start until evening we gear our whole day towards being at church on time.

My kids are late risers, but two of them still need naps, which they then take later in the day so on Wednesdays we do things a little differently. I wake the kids earlier so that they can nap earlier, so that they can wake earlier, so that they can possibly eat before we leave for church in the evening.

I really don’t mind at all, and I always try to set about my day with a good spirit. I had a fairly productive day of playing games with the children and cleaning and doing laundry and other necessary things.

Yet still 2pm surprised me again, and like always by 3pm I am looking around wondering how we could possibly make it out of the house on time.

teal lace top with pleated floral skirt modes otufit ideaOh I’ve tried a lot of different scenarios to get to church on time and I find all of said scenarios succeed equally as often as they fail, so I just do whatever seems like it will work best for our family on the day.

I’m more of a to do list type then a strict time-of-day-schedule type, and it works for me most times.

This time it didn’t work as well. I could clearly see I was running behind, but I wasn’t able to motivate myself into rushing to get dressed this time.

In fact, it even took me longer than usual to get dressed. When my husband came home from work late, he found all the children in their beds and none of them were dressed to go. I just told my husband I would get to them in a few minutes, no big deal. Without saying a word, my husband went and woke all the kids and wither dressed them or helped them to pick out clothes.

That was really nice, although it is not something I would count on in the future. I like being ready ahead of time, plus I am sure my husband isn’t hoping to walk in and immediately have to dress all the children.

teal lace and purple statement necklace with pleated floral skirt and teal sandal wedges modest outfit ideaPulled a little bit of my hair forward from behind my headband today so it fell a little differently, which I liked. This mint colored headband is from Target and is probably the most expensive one I own, so I will just wear it a ton so that I feel like I got my money’s worth.

Went with a colorful mix of teal and purple and florals for my outfit tonight. Wish I could say I planned it in advance, but I don’t usually allow myself enough time for things like that.

When I went into my closet I didn’t even know if I was going to change clothes. I was already dressed from the day at home with the kids and what I had on was perfectly presentable, but then I spotted this skirt.

I get all excited about the possibilities of how to style it and then I feel like I have to change or I won’t be able to stand it. It is nice to get that excited about a skirt, isn’t it?

purple, teal, and white floral skirt with teal wedgesHere’s a closer look at this pleated skirt from New York and Company, a clearance find from a few months ago. Another thing that excites me is a well organized clearance rack, which is what I encountered when I found this skirt. I like it better if I only have to dig through my small section of the correct size. I consider this skirt to be a floral, but when I look at it closely I guess there are no flowers and it is more of a leaf design.

Floral face watch with silicone band is from JCPenney and is available in 4 different colors, you can check it out here.

Pearl bracelet is from Dazzle Up and those beads on the top center are actually a shimmery silver, though it may be hard to see in the picture.

teal sandal wedges from cato fashions great shoes for summerYou may have already noticed the tan lines above my ankles and I am in no way embarrassed about those. I earned those by running 190 miles these past 2 weeks with ankle socks on, so we’ll just call those unsightly tan lines a badge of honor.

These lovely teal wedges were an impulse by from Cato Fashions. I went in to buy one specific thing (which I did not find) and came out with these shoes and a mint belt. I hope you have one of these stores near you, they have some great deals and great clothing and shoes. These wedges are insanely comfortable, they also had them in coral, and I wish I had bought those as well.

purple and teal pleated skirt with teallace top and teal wedges modest outfit ideaI love purple and teal together. My daughters are always asking me what my favorite color is (really at least twice a day) and I always tell them right now it is teal, and purple is second. My 3 year old loves to hear it because she says purple is her favorite color and my 6 year old likes to be different so she has chosen orange as her favorite. After all, Mikey is her favorite Ninja Turtle.

I wore this purple necklace from Bass, which they have at the outlet mall here. They have great prices on jewelry there. The necklace came with matching earrings, but of course I could only find one when it was time to get them on, so I went with my standard moderately giant silver hoop earrings.

Teal lace and purple pleated skirt great easy mom outfit ideaSurprisingly we were on time for church after all, which none of my children mentioned. I don’t necessarily need credit, but on the way to church the kids always ask if we are going to be late (they did not this day) and I always have to tell them yes we are, and then someone always says “we’re always late.” It would be nice if on the few occasions we are on time, someone just, even noticed, but that’s life I guess.

I am really enjoying this lace top it is super versatile, who knew I was missing a little bit of lace in my life?

Kelly Green and Leopard Print
My Sunday Style

I think I am starting to get the hang of dressing for this extremely hot weather, next up trying to figure out how to not sweat off my foundation and stop the humidity from frizzing out my hair. It will be fall soon though, so my real priorities are just trying to enjoy the days with my kids.

kelly green and leopard print pencil skirt nidest outfit ideaFor Sunday went with this great green top from Ross Dress for Less. It is a really great weight, thick enough to have a great saturated color and lay perfectly without wrinkling, and also light enough to wear comfortably on a hot July day.

Paired it withe this leopard print skirt from Charlotte Russe, because leopard print goes with everything. Leopard and hot pink or mustard yellow is always fabulous and I can’t really think of too many colors leopard print does not go well with.

leopard print and green modest outfit ideaOn a budget a pair of versatile black dress shoes goes a long way. These microfiber wedges from the Fergalicious By Fergie line are excellent. I need a profile picture of these shoes they look like flats in most of the pictures, but they are indeed wedges.

Kelly green and leopard print prencil skirt outfit ideaEven took a few extra minutes to curl my hair this morning. Slept past my alarm and rushed to get the whole family ready on time, and totally failed. We were the latest that we have been in a great while, but one of the things I love about where we attend church, is no one ever says a negative word about our occasional tardiness. I know I shouldn’t, but I can be a bit sensitive sometimes. (Understatement of the century).

My outfit was easy and comfortable, but unless we find a way to extinguish the sun, you can’t escape being hot on blue sky Sunday in July in South Carolina. Even my kids didn’t want to play outside. I sometimes change to be more comfortable before heading back to church to take my kids to their evening programs, but this was so comfy I just switched to flats and was ready to go.

I had a few people tell me they wouldn’t have thought to put these two colors together, so I hope that this inspires you to try something new. Pinterest is a great way to get ideas when you get a new piece of clothing for your closet.

For a long time I thought that I couldn’t be stylish because my budget wouldn’t allow, but this top was $12 and the skirt was only $20. It’s not thrift store cheap, but it isn’t any more than I was paying for my way \less stylish clothes in the past.

I’m going to be sad when summer is over and I can’t wear all these great things I found this summer. I hope most of it is still workable next spring.

Hope you are all having a great summer. Just a couple more weeks until we start homeschooling here again, and I kind of can’t wait.
