Easy and Inexpensive Easter Mantle and Entryway Decorating with DIY Painted Eggs

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

I got my Easter decorations up early! I usually have a few decorations, but with all the little children I have around here I don’t usually do much.

This year I have a few places I can decorate in the living spaces of my home where the children won’t destroy it and it was looking so barren after the Christmas decorations came down I decided to put up a few things. I skipped right over St. Patrick’s day and went for an Easter and Spring theme. I am so pleased with how it turned out I couldn’t wait to share it with you all, especially these super affordable eggs I painted.

Mantle decorated with Easter mantle for springSo my fireplace is set in the corner. I live in South Carolina where it is very warm 90% of the year so even though we’ve been here a year and a half this fire place has never been turned on.

Still though it is a lovely fireplace and it is right in my living room, so I have been doing my best to make this little spot look like a lovely little corner in my home.

Easter/ Spring decorated easter mantle, fireplace decorationsTo take up some of the space I bought this great bridge scene from Kirkland’s I had intended to figure out how to hang it and point lights at it, but that was going to be a ton of work so I just sat it there so it would be up and out of the way in the meantime, and as it turns out I quite like it that way so there it sits.

My husband made me this fantastic tray that sits in the center, it is decorated with this great glass blue tile, but it turned out to be too heavy to use as a tray and too lovely to not be displayed, so I found the perfect place for it on the shelf above the fireplace.

Whenever it starts inching toward spring my daughter’s and I love to have pretend tea out of lovely tea sets I’ve collected from all sorts of antique shops and resale stores, so I knew they would get a thrill out of having this lovely tea set displayed in the living room.

Easter egg wreath from Walmart, pastel egg wreath decorated mantleThis white orchid flower arrangement is from Hobby Lobby, with a 50% off coupon I find the flower arrangements are quite affordable, and I love this one so much we keep it up year round.

This Easter egg wreath is from Walmart and is only $9.88! We are always decorating on a budget, we are always doing everything on a budget really. Amazon has a great selection of Easter Wreaths that are so beautiful, and are available for 2 day shipping if you have an Amazon Prime membership.I only spent about $30 on all the decorations we have up in the house. (I had some from years previous)

Kirkland's easter banner with wooden clip on flowers from the Target dollar spot; how I decorated my easter mantleThis “Easter” banner is another Kirkland’s purchase, because basically Kirkland’s, Target, and Walmart are the 3 first places I look for decor. I have a few other places I like, but I’m at Walmart the most since it is where I buy my groceries and it’s hard to shop much when you have four little beautiful children to take care of and only one car to share for your whole family.

I added these bright and beautiful wooden flowers to my Easter banner,  I found the flowers  in the Target dollar spot. The clip on flowers were $3 for the 4 pack and I thought they went perfectly with my little Easter banner.

DIY painted easter eggs for home decoratingPicked up these bright yellow flowers in the seasonal aisle at Walmart  and painted these eggs with some artificial eggs I had from 90% off Easter clearance at Walmart last year. I had the green crinkly paper in with my gift wrapping things, and the vase is from a candy bar I had at a party a couple of years back. I love apothecary jars, but they start at around $30 for one so we just used what we could find second hand. This jar and lid are from the salvation army.

what I used to make gorgeous affordable painted Easter EggsI had some paint including a metallic gold and a more teal color (because teal/mint is my favorite) and I bought the pink and green paints just for painting the eggs.

inexpensive artificial eggs great for decorating and paintingI definitely didn’t realize how many of these eggs my husband purchased on clearance last year. I used about 3 packs and barely made a dent in what we have here.

These paints are $.50 each from Walmart. The metallic gold one may be more, but I already had that one on hand so I just bought the other 3 this time.

spring colored paints used for hand painted easter egg decorThe colors are “Key West,” Pure Gold,” “Baby Pink,” and Lime Sherbet. Click on the picture and it will open up in a new tab enlarged. You can easily read the labels in the enlarged photos if you want to see the exact product number on the paints.

hand painted easter eggs, ,do it yourself easter egg decorationClose up look a these eggs I painted! I love them so much. The colors are perfect. They sell eggs for decorating most everywhere, but I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted and I didn’t want to pay to mix multiple sets so I just made some myself.

I spray painted the metallic gold eggs with glitter sparkle gold spray paint that I had leftover from a previous project. The eggs turned out okay, but I don’t recommend spray painting them since they are so light weight the force of the aerosol spray sent them flying all around.

This spray paint has mixed reviews on Amazon, but I have used it in red and gold and it works near perfect every time. I love it and will definitely use it in the future.

Easter decorated console table with mirror, diy painted easter eggsFor my entry way table I added more painted eggs, plus a couple of pink flower arrangements and a few signs (both from Kirkland’s as are the flowers on the right). The flowers on the left are artificial bouquet my sister’s used as bridesmaid flowers in my wedding. My 2 year old daughter’s vacuum is reflected in the mirror there next to a basket of her toys I keep in the living room. I never was the type that didn’t allow toys in the living room.

Console table Easter decor with hand painted eggs, happy easter sign, and kirkland's pink flower arrangementCut and painted a bit of the egg container the artificial eggs came in to display the “Faith, Hope, and Love” eggs I painted using the pointed handle of a paint brush and the gold metallic paint pictured earlier in this post. The Happy Easter sign is sitting on a wooden colored block from a box of foam blocks from my son’s room.

The glass bird jar is from a yard sale and I’m pretty sure I paid a quarter for it. Flowers pictured above are from Kirkland’s last year, but I am certain I saw a similar set of these at Kirkland’s just a few weeks ago.

Feels so nice to have our decorations up and early! I love the way the house feels with all this beauty in it, now if only I could figure out how to keep the floors clean with 4 little kids living in it!

Hues of Winter Blues
Winter Style Round-up

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Style round-up time. If you are not following me on Instagram, you have to run over there and follow me for lots of outfit pics and fun giveaways.

Of course I always save a few outfits exclusively for the blog. And what I mean by that, is I don’t have time to post everyday on Instagram so this is a good way to play catch up and show you some looks you haven’t seen before at the same time. (Just being honest)

I love looking back at all the great styles I came up with from my closet over the past few months, but it almost makes me sad that I won’t be able to wear them again because spring is around the corner. I love the color mint and teal and I wear it a lotblue, teal, mint modest outfit ideas for fall and winterI am going to share 9 different looks featuring this lovely color today, even though when I look back at just the outfit pictures I took (because, shockingly I sometimes get dressed and leave the house without taking a photo of it) I probably wore blue about10 more times than I will show you hear.

One of my favorite pieces I found this fall that I did not get to wear enough because South Carolina just doesn’t have too many cold days (not complaining( is this great striped sweater I found at Ross Dress for Less.

blue and black striped aztec print sweater with black pencil denim pencil skirt and bootsLayered it with a long sleeve blue tee shirt and my favorite black denim pencil skirt from  Old Navy. Made it super casual and comfy by adding black leggings and sweater boots from Nine West.

blue and black striped aztec print sweater with black pencil denim pencil skirt and boots modest outfit ideaThese fun sunglasses were left behind at some store in Columbia when I took my children to visit the local zoo and I haven’t seen them since. I foolishly asked my 4 year old to hold them and then forgot she had them, by the time I remembered it was too late to go back. Perks of motherhood I suppose.

I loved the little added detail of wearing this Aztec patterned beaded headband from Claire’s, and of course a black statement necklace went perfectly.

navy cardigan and mint pleated skirt modest outfit idea for fall, winter with taupe bootsNext is another layered look, I love this navy blue cardigan so much, and there are so many great ways to wear it, but I couldn’t wait to mix it with this mint pleated skirt from Amazon.

Only $25 you can purchase this fabulous pleated skirt through this link if you love it as much as I do. This mint color is no longer available, but there are several other colors available including leopard, which I think may need to come live in my closet. I thought it was pretty true to size (xl is a 16/18 etc).

navy blue and mint pleated skirt modest outfit idea for fall with taupe bootsSo I have been loving these taupe boots from the Jennifer Lopez collection at Kohl’s anytime I wear something white this winter. I don’t actually have too much tan or khaki but I think these would go great with these colors also. These boots always make me feel fabulous and put together. For like ten seconds when I check my look in the mirror, then I go back into mom mode. haha

navy blue cardigan and mint pleated skirt modest outfit idea for fall with taupe bootsBlue jeweled necklace is from Burke’s Outlet, perfect for pairing with a button up top.

modest black and white polka dot rain boots lookFor an easy rainy day look I pulled out my polka dot rain boots from Shoe Carnival and added some boot socks. This super affordable heart patterned top is from Walmart, and is a great mix of light blue and gray which is a great color mix.

gray and blue heart patterned tee with black and white polka dot rain boots modest outfit ideaThis pencil skirt is an easy slip on style from Old Navy. Found on the clearance rack when searching for a particular pencil skirt at Old Navy that it felt like all my friends were getting. Of course when I finally go to Old Navy it turned out that the skirts were out in the styles that I wanted, but I lucked out anyway finding this great gray skirt for only $8,

An easy side braid to keep my hair together in the humidity, a chunky necklace, and a gray headband to finish off the whole look.

mint ribbed sweater and gray pencil skirt with herringbone vest modest outfit ideaSticking with the mint and gray color scheme, this may be one of my favorite combos from this winter. I found this mint ribbed long sleeve tee shirt at Rue21 for only $5.

Layered my mint tee with this gorgeous herringbone vest from Groopdealz. I really love Groopdealz because they have amazing prices and boutique styles that you can’t find in stores.

mint and herringbone modest outfit idea with bootsThe vest runs a little bit small, but Groopdealz is really great about having very accurate descriptions, and measurements listed for each of their pieces, and they always give a good estimate of how long shipping will take. So just like whenever you order online, be careful of the little details because Groopdealz doesn’t have a brick and mortar location to return to.

Wore a silver bohemian style necklace I purchased for less than $4 from Ebay. I saw a very similar style necklace at World Market that I can’t help but stop by and visit every time I’m in there, but at $40, I’m really pleased with my Ebay version.

mint and black leopart modest fall outfit ideaOh how I love wearing mint, I think we all have certain colors that we’re drawn too. For me I just try to make sure that I do indeed buy colors. I think a lot of us ladies will just constantly wear black if we don’t remind ourselves to buy colors when we are out and about.

This mint and leopard print sleeve top is another great deal from Rue21. Styled this fabulous top with a comfy a-line black skirt from Loft Outlet, and black leather ankle boots from Maruice’s.

black leopard sleeves and mint top with black maxi skirt modest outfit ideaStyled this great top again on a warmer day with a little more curl in my hair and some darker lips.

This time I paired it with a simple black maxi skirt and my bow front flats from Shoe Carnival.

black leopard sleeves and mint #rue21 top with black maxi skirtAdded a silver bib necklace which is also from Ebay. Each season I usually purhchase all the clothes for my family (budget permitting) over the course of 3 or 4 consecutive weekends. That way it is still fresh in my mind what pieces I am trying to get match up and I don’t have to spend 12 weeks shopping for clothes. After I have the majority of the pieces I pick out all the perfect necklaces on Ebay and spend about $20 all at once on jewelry and I’m usually set for the season. Really can’t beat the prices, the shipping time is quite long, but it is worth it to me.

navy and green plaid button up with denim skirt, mint vest and cognac boots, modest outfitI can’t be the only one who gravitates towards the same stores over and over again. This vest is also from Groopdealz. I was desperately hoping to find a mint colored vest while I was out shopping this fall, but the only one I happened across was $150!

It was gorgeous, but I have 6 people to clothe so I left it behind and hoped to find a better deal another day. Groopdealz never disappoints, they sold these vest a few times for less than $30.  I let the deal come and go once before grabbing it the second time t was available on the site.

navy and green plaid button up with denim skirt, mint vest and cognac boots, modest outfit ideaThis navy and green plaid button up is a Walmart find. I do most of my grocery shopping at Walmart so occasionally I try to stop over in the clothing department and see what they have their. I find some great pieces at Walmart so checking the clothing is a lot of fun.

This denim skirt is from Cato Fashions, and something I probably bought two winters ago. I prefer the dark wash denim and so far this skirt has held up wonderfully.

I wear this mint necklace quite a lot and can never remember where it is from, although I know I’ve seen a similar one at Target. The boots are also from Groopdealz cause they really have the best prices.

green, mint, and navy layered fall or winter modest outfit ideaThis last look basically came together like this. I was thinking I have this really great green necklace that I wore a few times in the warmer months and now that it is winter I wished I had a green sweater to wear it with, but I did not.

I thought to myself, if I did have a green sweater I would most likely want to wear said sweater over a patterned button up shirt, and then add the necklace. Well being the middle of the winter season, I wasn’t going to head all the way out to the outlet mall or the regular mall just to fine two tops. So (you know what happens next) next time I was at Walmart I found both of these great tops.

green and navy plaid button up shirt with black denim pencil skirt and boots, modest fall or winter outfit ideaAlways check the juniors department if you want to find some stylish pieces at Walmart, the juniors department often has more modern styles in it.

green plaid button up, mint sweater, and navy statement necklace layered fall or winter modest outfit ideaOf course the day I took these outfit pictures I was wearing this layered bib necklace from Burke’s Outlet, but I really did wear it with the green necklace several times.

blue, teal, mint modest outfit ideas for fall and winterNine outfits of blues and mints and greens. I loved them all and I hope you did as well. As the cold weather comes to an end (inevitably, right?) here in SC I am going to be posting more winter round-ups so stay tuned.

Thanks for stopping by, please feel free to pin any looks you love here or share this blog with a friend. Appreciate your support; until next time!

My Valentine’s Day Style 2016

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

I always love a good theme and shockingly hadn’t thought much about what I would put together for Valentine’s day outfits this year until a friend asked me one afternoon.

I had so many great ideas. What a fun romantic holiday, the possibilities for putting together an outfit that is perfect for the occasion of Valentine’s day dinner date seem endless, but I was able to limit myself to my 6 favorite looks from my closet.

5 modest valentine day outfit ideasFor the occassion I purchased this super affordable pink tulle skirt from Proverbs31 clothing company. These gorgeous skirts are only $15!

red top, statement necklace, pink tulle skirt and red shoes, modest valentine's day outfit ideaFor this first look I paired my pink tulle skirt with a simple red long sleeve tee. I added a bold statement necklace that I found a while back at Rue21.

red top, statement necklace, pink tulle and red shoes, modest valentine outfit ideaThis statement necklace instantly adds class to this lovely outfit. I wore my favorite jeweled hoops and a dramatic bracelet from Kohl’s.

red top, statement necklace, pink tulle skirt and red heels, modest valentine outfit idea 2 Found this pink and gold beaded headband on clearance at Target for only $6 and the last detail of this look might be the pink and white nails.

I really loved this look, the whole thing is so easy to pull off and so affordable.

red top, statement necklace, pink tulle and red shoes, modest valentine's day outfit ideaI have heard a lot of people hesitate at the thought of wearing tulle, but I say go for it. Don’t be afraid to stand out. Really what is the point of blending in anyway. This tulle skirt is going to be a great addition to your spring wardrobe. It is a lovely pink color and it is not too heavy.

pink sweater and red pencil skrit modest valentine's day outfit ideaIf you are into something a little sleeker and a little warmer than I still have you covered.

This next look was the first thing I thought of for a cozy Valentine’s day date night, or night on the town with your friends.

This sweater is perfect if you live where it is going to be freezing in mid February.

red pencil skirt, red heels and pink jeweled sweater, pink and red modest valentine's day outfitThis red pencil skirt is a steal at only $20 from Amazon and has held up surprisingly well for the amount of use it has gotten since I purchased it over a year ago.

You can still purchase this super comfy skirt through this link on Amazon, it is available in several colors including hot pink.

pink jeweled sweater and red pencil skrit modest valentine's day outfit ideaThese red patent leather round toe Mary Jane style shoes were a clearance deal I found at Rack Room Shoes. You can find a super similar pair of heels at Target when you click through this link and score an additional 25% off when you use the code PRES making them only $22!

pink jeweled sweater and red pencil skirt, modest valentine's day outfit ideaReally loved how cozy and warm this sweater from New York and Company is, but I was pretty dissapointed that some of the jewels came off the second time I wore it. It is an easy enough fix, but I just feel like I shouldn’t have to repair my brand new clothes. Maybe a repair on  thrifted piece, but it’s not like I was doing anything that caused it. Just fell off while I was sitting completely still. Oh well, at least it looked fabulous for this photo and I didn’t pay full price (yay for sales!)

Have I mentioned that I love this skirt?! There are so many great ways to wear it, but this may be one of my favorites.

white and black polka dots and blush pink tulle skirt with hot pink accents, modest valentine's day outfit ideaA little mix of hot pink and blush pink, plus any excuse to wear these great shoes, right?

I used my Rack Room Rewards combined with a sale to get these great hot pink heels for only $7.

white and black polka dot top and blush pink tulle skirt with hot pink shoes and necklace, modest valentine's day outfit ideaThis is pretty much the most fun you can have wearing a skirt. These heels and the fun pink tulle skirt really make you want to twirl around.

white and black polka dot top and blush pink tulle skirt with hot pink heels, modest valentine's day outfit ideaI love the black and white combined with the blush pink and I think it would look just as well with black and white stripes.

This black and white polka dot top is a purchase from Kohl’s last year from the Elle line.

white and black polka dot top and blush pink tulle skirt with hot pink shoes and necklace, valentine's day outfit ideaFound this gorgeous beaded, layered necklace at Burke’s outlet, you can read my review of their store here. They have great prices and their jewelry section may be my favorite part of their store. They always have great jewelry in great colors.

The pops of bright pink definitely make this outfit a lot more fun. Very fun and flowy outfit for Valentine’s day.

white and black polka dot top and blush pink tulle skirt with hot pink accents, modest valentine's day outfit ideaIn the cold I was wishing that the lining to this tulle skirt was a little longer. I am certain I will be glad for the shorter length lighter weight lining in the summer, making this skirt something I can wear all year long.

heart patterned sweater with black tulle skirt and sparkly heels modest valentine outfit ideasIf you’re not completely sold on wearing pink on Valentine’s Day you can try something in a different color palette.

This blue heart patterned sweater is perfect for a subtle Valentine’s day look.

blue and black heart patterned sweater perfect for valentine's dayHere’s a close up so you can see the heart pattern on the fabulous sweater. If only I could always take photos when the sun was just right, then you could see the great powder blue shade of this sweater.

blue and black heart sweater with black tulle skirt modest holiday outfit ideaA friend told me about these great, affordable sparkly black glitter pumps over the holidays. These shoes are from Payless and really add a dressy element to any outfit. The heel is not to high, so they are super comfortable and versatile. Really love these shoes.

black glitter sparkly heels from PaylessThese are always so fun to wear, I’m not sure how I got along without them for so long.

If you love these heels you have to check out these black glitter pumps from Forever21, only $22.

black tulle skirt, black glitter heels and blue heart sweater valentine's day outfit ideaThis black tulle skirt is midi length and makes me feel a little sophisticated. Which is a nice feeling to have after a day home with my 4 kids breaking up the most absurd arguments and changing diapers.

Or even after a day of making paper snowflakes and cupcakes, it’s nice to have something beautiful, and flowy to put on and this tulle skirt is perfect for that. I found this one for a steal at Ross but tulle skirts are getting to be so popular now, you can find them a lot of places, I know I recently saw several colors of tulle skirts at Charlotte Russe and Rue21.

black and blue nontraditional valentine's day outfit ideaIt’s nice to have a little something blue too, if you are trying to get your date to coordinate with you too. My husband certainly doesn’t have any pink ties, though I think he’d look dashing in one.

modest valentine's day outfit idea, pink tulle skirt and white lace top, silve shoes and pink statement necklaceFor my final Valentine’s day inspired look featuring this tulle skirt from Proverbs31 clothing company, I paired this pretty blush skirt with my lace sleeve white top from Loft.

When I see tulle I always think of pairing it with white lace. I feel like it is the easiest and most classic way to wear it, but I also like to mix it up a bit.

white lace top and pink tulle skirt perfecgt for valentine's dayI have had this blush pink bib necklace for a while, when I saw it in New York and Company during a ridiculous jewelry sale I just new I couldn’t leave it behind. Surprisingly I found that I didn’t have that much to wear it with and it has been sorely neglected. This blush skirt goes so well with this skirt, I am so excited. I really loved these two together.

white and pink dressy valentine's day outfit ideaThis is such a fun romantic mix. A loose curl seems like the perfect addition to any romantic look. I’ve been really wanting to try a curling wand instead of my traditional curling iron, I have seen so many great styles on youtube using those things, but I feel certain I will not be able to pull them off myself. If you have any recommendations for or against a curling wand I am all ears, please let me know in the comments.

romantic, girly, modest valentine's day outfitJust picked up these sparkly peep toe pumps at Shoe Carnival just in time for a Valentine’s Day Banquet event.

I told my children that all the sparkles on these nude colored pumps made me feel like Cinderella. .

embellished nude sparkly peep toe pumpsHere’s a closer look at these sparkly lovely shoes. I almost wish I hadn’t made the Cinderella comment to my children, cause they’ve been clamoring to get to these shoes ever since, but really who can blame them.

blush embellished jeweled sweater with black and white striped skirt modest valentine's day outfit ideaThis sweater is a blush color, but it just didn’t really translate in these photos. Near the collar of this short sleeve sweater is a jeweled design in the shape of a bow.

jewel embelishments in the shape of a bow on blush colored sweater from Kohl's Elle Line This is just a super fun sweater, but it’s still really easy and kind of casual.

Just a simple way to feel all dressed up with no additional work of having a necklace on all day. Although my little one was determined to pick these jewels off one by one, but they withstood a couple pulls and tugs.

blush embellished jeweled sweater with black and white striped skirt easy modest valentine's day outfit ideaGot out these super versatile sparkly glitter black pumps again for this last look. First time it gets cold in South Carolina is when I wanted to dress up for Valentine’s day. Seems pretty fair to me, considering how many more warm days we have than cold so I just moved the photos inside for a couple of the outfits.

black and white lace striped top with red pencil skirt easy modest outfit ideaBonus! Here’s a look at a couple of outfits for some upcoming blog post that would also be great for Valentine’s Day. This black and white lace striped top from Loft paired with this red pencil skirt is another sleek look that can work for Valentine’s day.

blush and burgunday modest valentine's day outfit ideaBlush textured long sleeve tee, burgundy skirt and matching shoes. I’m always happy when I get to wear these boots.

Spring is around the corner and I am really going to have to step up my shoe game so I don’t have to miss all my fabulous boots until next fall.

Phew! So that is it, ha ha! A round up of my six gorgeous Valentine’s Day styles, plus 2 bonus styles that will also fulfill all of our pink and red Valentine’s day dreams.

Hope you love them, hope you pin them.

Until next time, thank you so much for reading.

Snowy Style
My Out of Town Winter Outfits

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

So my loving husband had to drag me kicking and screaming on a near 20 hour drive to see our families. Really the drive is much shorter, but with 4 little children in tow, it never quite works out that way.

Of course I was crazy excited to see my family, and my kids kept asking me if we were going to build snowmen at Grandpa and Grandma’s house.

The thought of snow had me thinking though. I knew that it had been unusually warm this winter in my former hometown and I had written off the idea of snow, but the more the kids asked the more I got to thinking.

I’m not the sledding, snow angels, and snowman kind of girl. I usually stand on the side taking pictures while the kids have snowball fights with their dad, but I was thinking the one thing that was missing from my life were some great outfit photos with a snowy white back drop.

At the risk of packing yet another pair of shoes I did pack one or 2 extra outfits just in case.

Turned out when we finally arrived at the doorstep of my in-laws house it was in fact snowing. The first snow of the cold season for them, just so happened to occur at the time of our arrival.

I wish it would’ve waited until we got the car unpacked, but I am happy my kids were able to play in the snow and a few days later I did snap a couple outfit pics before it all melted away.

buffalo plaid peacoat from #burkesoutlet and red beanie, plaid and stripe pattern mix. My modest winter styleKeeping warm was serious business for me. It had not been cold in South Carolina where I live up to this point, and I did not pack correctly for the cold and windy lake front weather. This red beanie from Groopdealz was invaluable to me. If you have not shopped Groopdealz it is an amazing website that has great deals on boutique style clothing. I actually found this beanie on Groopdealz for only $6.99!

red buffalo plaid winter coat pattern mix with black and white striped dress and black knee hight boots, modest winter outfit ideaOf course I brought my favorite red and black buffalo plaid peacoat from Burke’s Outlet on my trip. I have warmer coats, with hoods, but I wasn’t planning on being this cold. At least I looked great, right? Quick steps from the car and back, no lingering, and I was fine, with the exception of a few outfit pics with my big sis.

buffalo plaid button up and black and white striped long sleeve dress, my modest winter styleOkay, confession time, I am slightly obsessed with buffalo plaid. If you had more than one conversation with me this fall/winter I have probably brought it up, and I am not sorry.

So now that we have that out in the open, you will not be surprised to see that when I took off my plaid coat I was actually wearing a plaid button up shirt in the same print and the same colors.

buffalo plaid button up tied over black and white striped dress, my modest winter syleI couldn’t hide how cold I was when posing for this shot. No matter how I tried, I just couldn’t get my shoulders to come down, taking my coat off was quite the shock. Don’t worry we didn’t stay outside more than a moment. You can also rest assured that it wasn’t as cold as I look.

I felt amazing in this 3/4 sleeve long striped dress from Jane.com. It wasn’t too dressy and it was heavy enough for the colder weather. Best part about this fabulous dress made by Sign Here Vinyl is that it was less than $20 on Jane!

It was hard to buy only one. You should definitely head over to Jane and check out there great deals.

This buffalo plaid button up shirt is a recent wishlist find I from Wamlart. My husband couldn’t believe when I exclaimed it was just what I’d been looking for, but I promise I don’t have one like it. It is perfect for layering and the price is perfect too.

Necklace and boots are from Cato Fashions, earrings are from Burke’s Outlet, and headband is from Payless.

white lace dress and cognac boots and belt my modest winter styleI love this dress I found on clearance at White House Black Market a few seasons ago when I was still living in Indiana.

I like it for spring, but couldn’t wait to layer it up for winter. It was pretty windy at the park by the lake so I might have to repeat this one so I can get a picture of it on a sunny and clear day in South Carolina, but mostly because I love this outfit.

white lace dress and cognac boots modest winter outfitThis beige cardigan is from New York and Company outlet, and my blet is from Cato Fashions. I always find great deals at Cato Fashions.

These amazing brown sweater boots are from Groopdealz! Yes, again with Groopdealz. Before I found Groopdealz I just owned less clothes. Groopdealz is really amazing and these boots were less than $30!

My bohemian style necklace is from Ebay and I think I payed less than $4 for it. Love finding fashion for a steal. Although, I admit, I have to repair jewelry I order from Ebay from time to time.

red embellished sweater with statement necklace and tulle skirt modest winter outfitDressing up my red sweater I bought for our choir concert, hope you saw how I styled it in my previous post of Red Christmas Outfits.
I layered my red sweater from Kohl’s over a simple white button up shirt I bought from Walmart.

I added my super gorgeous statement necklace I got for $16 at Rue21 a few months back.

Added my very long and very gorgeous beige tulle skirt I purchased from Amazon. I bought my  6-layer Midi Length Tulle Skirt for our family Christmas Photos and am so pleased with how lovely it is.

red embellished sweater with statement necklace and tulle skirt modest christmas outfitThis  6-layer Mid Tulle Skirt from Amazon is listed as midi length but hit my 5’3″ frame at my ankles. This skirt did have a length option, if you like the shorter style tulle skirt. The shorter length is great for less formal events or warmer weather.

red shoes and white tulle skirt modest christmas outfit ideaYou know you have a slight obsession when you are so excited that the snow is icy hard so you can stand on it in your red high heels. These red shoes from Shoe Carnival are another recent affordable find. I love, loving all my clothes.

A couple years ago I made the decision to only buy clothes that make me squeal. No more “Well it is the right price and it fits” decisions. It’s working out pretty well, I hope you agree.

red embellished sweater with statement necklace and tulle skirt winter outfit on benchLoved the contrast of the bright red against the soft beige tulle skirt. I will never tire of this necklace.

I am back home and ready to start a new year with new goals and things to accomplish. More on all that to come in a later post. Hope the new year is treating you all well, and thank you so much for stopping in as always.

Gorgeous in Gold for the Holidays

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

It’s close enough to Christmas time to start thinking about New Year’s Eve plans and outfits. It’s definitely not too late to go out and find something fabulous to wear to your Christmas day or Christmas Eve parties.

One of my favorite things about Holiday style is that it is perfectly acceptable (and even expected) to wear sequins, and tulle, and all manner of formal attire. Oh for joy.

If you are thinking of sequins, I have a few great ideas for you. It is not too over the top (but if you are going for that, it sounds great to me). You can dress it up or down, a little sequins in your headband, or on your clutch, or your shoes, but a sequin top or skirt is also lovely.

Here are 4 sparkly, sequined outfits perfect for your holiday event this year (or Sunday Morning church if you’d like).

First, is my dressiest look, which includes a sequin top I bought on Poshmark.

gold sequin top and tulle skirt modest outfit ideaIf you haven’t signed up for Poshmark yet, let me tell you briefly what it is. Poshmark is a site where lots of fashionable people like you and me sell their clothes they are no longer using. Poshmark pays for the shipping and handles the purchase and any returns if needed so it is super smooth and easy. They have lots of brand names and new, and like new items at great prices. My favorite thing about Poshmark is being able to find something specific when I need it at a price I can afford.

If you haven’t signed up for Poshmark yet you can check it out here. When you get there use the code PDSMN to get a free $10 credit to spend on your first purchase!

gold sequin and beige tulle skirt modest holiday outfit ideaI found this gorgeous top on Poshmark.com for only $13. If you use my code PDSMN when you sign up you might be able to get yourself a gorgeous top like this for $3 or less.

I love it, and it looked great in our holiday photos. My girls were all wearing tulle skirts with sparkles on them so I decided to get a tulle skirt for myself to match my lovely little girls.

beighe tulle skirt and taupe boots, modest holiday outfit ideaThis V28® Women 6-layer Mid Tulle Skirt in Beige is full without being too full, and ankle length. It has a lining which makes it super comfortable and the price was perfect. I got this gorgeous skirt from Amazon and it was eligible for 2 day shipping with my Amazon Prime Membership which is way too convenient.

The rest of this gold look was in the accessories. Taupe booties are Jennifer Lopez Collection from Kohl’s. My gold braided headband is from Target and my layered pearl necklace is from Burke’s Outlet. My pearl drop earrings actually came with the necklace from Burke’s Outlet and I paid $7.99 for the set. Love that store. See 4 Holiday looks I put together from Burke’s Outlet Store HERE.

gold sequin top and beige tulle skirt, easy christmas outfitThe rest of my sequin style will feature this really fantastic gold sequin skit from Target.

I sometimes am surprised to hear how many of my fellow fashionistas dislike online shopping. With 4 kids and a limited budget sites like Jane.com and Eleventh Avenue are a life safer, but if you are more of a brick and mortar kind of girl, check out how I styled this sequin skirt from Target.

white cable knit sweater layered over black button up top, gold sequin skirt, black tights and booties. Modest holiday/christmas outfit ideaSeriously this skirt is so fantastic, and, breathtaking, and affordable. I sized up since the skirt was a bit on the short size for my Mommy sensibilities and buying it a size larger allowed me to wear it a little lower on my waist and feel more comfortable with the length.

I dressed it way down with a casual white cable knit sweater (which coincidentally I also bought at Target, weeks earlier).

white cable knit sweater and gold sequin skirt modest outfitKept my earrings simple, but I did wear a black bib necklace and my gold braided headband is on repeat.

red and black buffalo plaid top and gold sequin skirt modest outfitBuffalo plaid and gold, (well buffalo plaid and most things) might be m favorite thing ever. This buffalo plaid blouse from Burke’s Outlet is great for when I want to dress up my plaid print. It’s dressier than a standard cotton button up so it is perfect for pairing with sequins.

Layered a black cami under this top and added a simple heart pendant necklace.

red buffalo plaid top and gold sequin skirt, modest holiday outfitMy last look is inspired by a Pinterest photo I found pairing polka dots and sequins.

black and white polka dot peter pan collar sweater and gold sequined skirtI wore my black and white polka dot sweater that I bought about a month or 2 ago at Kohl’s. This sweater actually came in 3 or 4 different combinations, but I had black and white polka dots on my wish list so I went with this classic.

white and black polka dot sweater with gold sequin skirt, modest holiday outfit idea new year's eve outfitI love this top because, besides being gorgeous, the peter pan collar is removable since it is attached with buttons. That means I could layer this sweater over another top without having the collar get in the way. Although I do love the way it looks just off the hanger, and I’m not sure when or if I will layer it. Tough choices haha.

So there you have it, four, yes 4 amazingly easy looks featuring gold sequins.

My hope is that I convinced at least one of you can to wear sequins for the first time or in a different way than you have in the past. I hope you loved at least one of these looks, I know I did. You can pull off sequins. Office party, family party, or wherever you are headed this Christmas don’t be afraid to sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by hope your Christmas is fabulous!

My Holiday Style
With Burke’s Outlet

It’s that time of year again, Christmas time! There are lights up in the house, and an excess of music, baking, and dressing up. I love seeing all the holiday dresses and candy cane striped leggings, and reading Christmas stories to my kids.

One of the greatest things about the holiday season is spending time with friends and family, and usually that means parties. Yep, this time of year brings lots of parties, and school performances, church programs and office events to attend this year. If you are wondering what you are going to wear to your holiday events this season I have got you covered.

Burke’s treated me to a shopping trip to put together some holiday outfits and I am so excited to show you the beautiful outfits I was able to put together.

modest holiday outfit looks with Burke's outlet I had $100 dollars to spend, and was able to do a lot with it. I always see television segments featuring outfits for $100 or less, well look what I was able to do with $100 dollars!

I bought a dress, a vest, two tops, a coat and a pair of earrings. I pieced some outfits together with some holiday staples you ladies probably already have at  home and I am ready to party Burke’s Outlet style.

Let’s take a closer look at these great outfits.

red holiday sweater dress and fur vest, modest outfit idea from #burkesoutletSweater dresses are so great, dress them up, dress them down, lounge around the house or hit the town. You can do all of those things for only $19.99 with this great red sweater dress from Burke’s. It is the perfect length and so comfortable!

black fur vest outfit, red sweater dress modest holiday outfit, modest christmas outfitThere were quite a few sweater dresses to be found, but I liked the brightness and the length of this red one best of all. I  also found this great fur vest, Burke’s Outlet had this vest in 2 colors, brown and black for only $14.99. How this is the first fur vest I have stumbled across this season in my price range I do not know, but I super love it!

I love layers in the winter, they are a wonderful necessity. Plus a vest at a party means I can eat two extra cupcakes and no one will notice my slightly expanding waistline, though I am not sure how I’ll hide the actual act of eating the cupcakes in the first place.

#burkesoutlet holiday outfit; red sweater dressAlso got these embellished hoops for only $4.99, my friends I am definitely a hoop earrings kind of girl, and Burke’s has great jewelry of all sorts. This is probably the fourth or fifth pair I have purchased from Burke’s.

So this look featured a lot of great items from Burke’s outlet, including a vest, dress, and earrings.

In addition to those I headed over to Payless and found these great sparkly black pumps a friend had told me about.

black sparkle shoes and red sweater dress christmas outfitSeriously these are so perfect, and I didn’t have any dressy pumps in black and Payless was having a 50% off sale. Obviously I couldn’t ignore a sign like that. (Haha)

Bracelet is from a few months back at Kohl’s, and these bright red holiday nails are Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, number 570 Right Said Red.

This is such a great and easy look to put together for the holidays. Topped of this sweater dress look with my tassel necklace and headband from Walmart. (Yes. Walmart.)

Next up is a less traditional look. Sometimes, when everyone is wearing gingerbread neutrals or merry holiday colors I like to break the mold, so I go back to an old standby; mint. Mint and mustard may be my favorite colors for everything.

I found this great mint 3/4 sleeve length with gold and white button details at Burke’s outlet for $14.99.

I winterized this look by adding a full and flowing Beige Tulle skirt I found for just $18.99 on Amazon.

mint, tulle and gold winter holiday modest outfitQuick someone invite me some where, I have the perfect outfit!

I can totally picture myself laughing the night away with friends and family over drinks and food and light music.

white tulle and mint top #burkesoutlet holiday outfitI added this great cream and gold striped scarf I found last year at Loft Outlet. Full tulle skirts are not usually my style, but I had this for my family holiday photos, and knew it would go perfectly with this top.

I think I love tulle for the holidays, but I have seen so many great looks with this style skirt, so if you do end up buying this one from Amazon (which you can find HERE) don’t worry that you will be limited to special occasions. Tulle skirts have become very versatile. And double don’t worry, because I will be sharing some more looks featuring this skirt in the near future.

beige tulle skirt, with boots, modest holiday christmas outfitOkay guys, we are going to have to talk about another amazing pair of shoes. These Taupe Boots are Jennifer Lopez Collection brand from Kohl’s.

They have gold embellishments and tied in quite nicely with my scarf. I’m obsessed with how great these boots are. Still on the hunt for a pair of brown ones, but I’m starting to get to that part of the winter where I feel I may have enough to get by. If I see a brown pair at a great deal I might still take them home with me. Please let me know if you find a great deal on chocolate brown boots in the comments.

mint blouse with gold scarf and tulle skirt, modest holiday outfit ideaI am really loving this blousy mint top. Great for people like me who live some place that can pretty warm even in December.

Accessories really completed this look, bracelet watch by Lenox, and this Chloe and Isabelle inspired bracelet was only $5 from Ebay. Also added this perfect gold braided headband from Target and stud earrings from Cato Fashions.

If you do find you are going to have to layer up to attend your holiday event, then you are going to love this Buffalo Plaid coat I found in the junior’s section at Burke’s Outlet.

super affordable buffalo plaid coat from burke's outletYou should have heard me squeal like a school girl and start taking selfies to send my sister when I found this coat in my size at Burke’s.

I have been looking for this coat all winter. I almost approached a stranger at a restaurant to ask her  where she got a coat similar to this one, but she looked like a young teenager, so I thought that might be weird. I don’t know if you can tell just by looking how much I love beautiful clothes so I let her be.

I recently saw a coat just like this one at JCPenney. It was on clearance and it was still marked $45, original price $90.

This coat at Burke’s Outlet was priced at only $24.95! Do your happy dance guys and then run to Burke’s Outlet, there are some real gems in there.

red black buffalo pliad gorgeous coat for the winter holidaysThis coat makes me think of cold winter days drinking hot cocoa, and strolling down the streets looking at Christmas light displays with my children. Think of all those outdoor holiday photo ops, wearing this coat. This coat cost less than some tops I own, and it is completely fabulous.

buffalo plaid coat and striped skirt modest outfitIf you do find yourself sporting a buffalo plaid coat to your outdoor event, a little pattern mix with stripes might be a lovely way to go. You will probably want to wear boots, but I was sporting my sparkly heels again, I’m not anticipating any snow.

The final look I’ve already worn out to a holiday party.

Another great top from Burke’s Outlet. They had great black and grey skirts as well. I even saw a striped skirt and Aztec print skirts at Burke’s also.

black and white gingham top with black tulle skirt and pops of red, modest holiday outfits with #burkesoutletEverything I found I really loved. This gingham top was more of a tunic style and was very sheer. It is a thinner blouse type of top that is great for a dressier event, or a business casual look. I layered this top over a black tank top with thick straps, and added some red jewelry. I tucked it in to hide the length, but this might be a fun one to wear with leggings on another day.

perfectly red holiday heels with black tulle skirtI guess I should have mentioned that celebrating the birth of Christ really makes me want to pull out all my show stopping shoes. Bahaha, not really, just a lovely, fashionable coincidence.

These shoes were a great price from Shoe Carnival, and were actually really comfortable, though I admit I spent the bulk of the night sitting, only getting up a few times to refill my plate. (Aren’t holiday parties great?)

Red pumps should be in every girls closet, and now these ones are in mine, also added a few extra rings, most of which are from Bass Outlet.

burke's outlet holiday look with affordable pricesFound myself laughing all night in this lovely outfit. I was never uncomfortable and the elastic waist band on the skirt was very easy and comfortable to sit and converse in. This black tulle skirt was only $12.99 at Ross Dress For Less.

I have found some great dresses and skirts at Ross for great prices, and this one will definitely be put to good use.

I found a set of three sparkling braided headbands at Payless for 50% off, and added the red one to this outfit. The red necklace is from eBay and bright red lipstick by Estee Lauder

Save Big on Holiday Gifts and Stocking Stuffers on Amazon.com

Hello and thank you for visiting. I am so glad you are here. My readers are so important to me which is why I want you to know the links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

It’s that time of year again, Christmas Time! Only 45 days until Christmas and moms like me know they need to save money this year (and every year!).

I have been scouring Amazon to see what types of deals they have floating around the pages of the Amazon Toy outlet and found a few things I absolutely had to share with you and a couple great prices on Christmas movies.

If you have Amazon Prime than you are already enjoying free 2 day shipping. As a busy mom, I find this service so valuable. Sometimes, it is faster to order stuff from Amazon than to wait to find time in the week to get to the store and pick up the one or 2 items I seemingly need right away.

Some of the amazingly low priced deals on Amazon will only ship as part of their new add on program. Which means it will only ship with a qualifying purchase of $25 or more even if you are an Amazon Prime Member. Good news is that these add on items will arrive the same speed as the rest of your order so if you do find an add on item to buy, you can add it to your Amazon prime order and receive your low cost item in the same 2 days time.

Now that we have that all covered, let’s get on with the deals, there are some really great ones.

save big on kids deals and christmas gifts 2015 on amazonI will start with a great movie for your kids for the Christmas season. We love to get a few great deals on DVDs for the kids to watch in the car.

Here’s another great movie deal for less than $5.

save on barbie and the diamond castleBarbie and the Diamond Castle is only $4.50 on DVD and is also eligible for free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime membership (or free shipping on orders of $35 or more).

I know I’m not the only one that is drawn in by that basket of movies for $5 or less at Walmart. I never have time to dig through that, but this is so much simpler.

jan kowalski die cast deal on amazon

My son loves these little die casts air planes from the Disney Planes movies. He has quite  few, that are well love and is always looking to add another. These tend to end up flying down my stairs though so I try to keep the final number limited to less than 5.

I you are looking for a toy for your little boy or girl this die cast air plane from Amazon is only $2.58.

This character is Jan Kowalski and might be a great for a sister who is wishing for an airplane of her very own this Christmas.

Golden Glitter Fall Manicure
Nude and Gold Glitter Nails

Finally got a chance to paint my nails at home since all this fabulous fall weather started. Last time I had them  painted it was a bright orange color. Sadly painting my nails is one of those glamorous things I don’t do very often, because I scrub things a lot and it doesn’t mix well with nicely manicured nails.

gold glitter faill diy nails/ manicure

Perhaps it is time to try some of those nail wraps and see if they last through a few toddler bath times and loads of dishes.

I was wanting to do a glitter gold color, but couldn’t commit to doing it all over all my nails.

So I bought a nude color and planned on trying a gradual increasing of gold from the bottom to a gold glitter saturated tip. Sounds easy right?

It was a rainy night at Walmart out with all the kids and we were without umbrellas so I decided to wait out the down pour in the nail polish aisle.

Splurged a little on the How Nude Gel Nail Polish by Sally Hansen for the base.

sally hansen miracle gel nail color how nudeYou can purchase this nail polish on Amazon for just $7.17 as an add on item by clicking here.

I was going to try loose glitter which seemed dangerously messy but perhaps fortuitously I couldn’t find the fine style glitter I wanted at Walmart.

So I grabbed another inexpensive bottle of nail polish even though I find glitter nail polish to be roll your eyes annoying to work with.

pure ice studette nail color gold glitter nail polishThe Pure Ice Studette color was less than $2 and with all 4 kids in tow I made a quick decision to try it and off I went.

nude and gold glitter nailsFinal result was pretty great, but as predicted the gold glitter nail polish was not easy to work with.

Lightly brushed the bottom of my nail with the glitter polish once the nude coat dried. Had to be very careful with this because the glitter had a tendency to go on streaky and the brush was stiff and unforgiving.

However this was super easy to pull off and requires little to nail painting skills.

Also is was really inexpensive, compared to the time and money it would have taken to go and get my nails painted professionally.

I will definitely do this again, but I will be keeping my eye out for a better quality gold glitter nail color.

Nautical Summer Style

I love a good anchor print. Last summer my little one was just 6 months old and I wasn’t able to get out of the house much, and I remember that I wanted an anchor print anything so badly, but couldn’t find one. So unless it was going to fall into my lap, I had to just give up on that for a while.

As soon as it got warm outside this year I was excited to keep an eye out for anything with a fun anchor print on it, as long as it wasn’t in white. I am fond of white, but I don’t wear it too much because it seems to get a lot of messy kid finger prints on it, that don’t wash out. So I try to keep my white wardrobe pieces thrifted so I won’t be devastated when someone accidentally leaves their lollipop on my chair.

When I came across an anchor print button up blouse at Express I was pretty excited. I don’t shop at that store too often, but I was in there looking for a nice button up for my husband, so I figured why not just wander over to the ladies side of the store and see what I find.

nautical outfit with anchor prints, modest fashionSo thrilled to find an anchor print that is dressy and modest. Just moved to a coastal state, so plan on seeing this one on repeat many ways.

I came and hung my new treasure in the closet to await the perfect occoasion, or just a Sunday morning that itwas not raining.

Happily a week or so later I got a message from Ashley Amber over at ModestlyHot.com inviting a few bloggers to participate in her Modest Nautical Lookbook. If you are not following Modestly Hot on instagram you are missing out on some great, stylish outfits, that are all modest.

modest nuatical outfit img from modestly hotI was so honored to even be asked by such a fashionable lady to participate in her lookbook, and of course I knew exactly what I wanted to wear.

There are so  many great ways to wear this top, but for this look I went with a classic pairing of white with pops of red.

nautical summer style, navy print anchor top with white and pops of redCouldn’t wait to wear this top. I wore it tucked in with this fit and flare white denim skirt that I have actually had a couple of years. Of course it is in pristine condition because I rarely let it out to be near my lovely, but sometimes messy children.

perfect red aerosole sandals for on the go moms

These sandals are new from Shoe Carnival, and are Aerosoles brand. I love Aerosoles shoes, they are so comfortable. These shoes have a slim, low, wedge heel. I prefer a 4 inch pump, but I cannot chase children around in those, so I am always looking for something with a low wedge.

These shoes are perfect for all of us moms. If you have not had Aerosole brand shoes before, you should definitely at least try them on. They are so comfortabe, and these ones had a great zipper detail that is so much fun. All the kids wanted to help me zip these up when I put them on.

Found this great necklace on Amazon, we have Amazon Prime and you can hardly beat those great 2 day shipping deals. I did see this exact necklace on ebay, but the people who were selling it on ebay either didn’t have the color I watned or were located over seas (which usually means 4 or more weeks shipping time)

My necklace arrived in perfect condition, and I am very pleased with it. Details are really so important to an outfit, and if you are like me than you can agree that they are so much fun. This great necklace was tied into the outfit by also incorporating a red belt and red shoes.

By the time I had all these pieces on I was feeling pretty stylish. Just wanted to add the perfect bracelet to the mix. Another great Amazon find.

nautical summer style anchor prints and white anchor bracelet from Amazon This bracelet is so perfect! Super versatile and only $6.19 right now on Amazon and ships free 2 day shipping if you are an Amazon prime member, but for me the best part about this bracelet is that it is all one piece.

That means no fiddling with it all day to make sure all the little charms line up, I have been there and I am not a fan of high maintenance jewelry.

It is so awesome when all the details just fall into place for an outfit. Most Sunday mornings I am just standing staring at my hanging clothes and hoping something jumps out to me. Of course that never works and usually by the time I am totally dressed and ready to go wherever it is, I surprise myself that I was even able to put an outfit together.

nautical summer style anchor prints and white outfit for momsOnce everything was put together it was perfect. Now I just need to find about a dozen places where I can go wearing this exact outfit over and over. This lovely water fountain is just a few blocks from my home, and my husband so graciously offered to take my picture.

I will never realize how truly lucky I am to have some modern conveniences like allowing my kids to be detracted by a TV screen that is playing inside of my car while i snap some gorgeous pictures up by the water.

nautical summer style anchor prints and whiteI am so honored to have been asked to participate in the Modest Nautical outfit lookbook. Make sure you comeback on Friday to see 5 more ways I styled this top.

I was able to find about 3 tops at Rue21 that all had anchor print this season. None of the locations of Rue21 ended up having the exact top I was looking for (at least no in my size) and yet I somehow ended up with 3 tops from Rue21 that are anchor print , plus the look pictured above, I am kind of hoping I don’t find anything else I like that is anchor print that I love as much as I love this top.

I really loved being able to dress up my nautical look. This shirt is very versatile and this specific look is a great idea for Memorial Day or 4th of July. If you are loving the nautical look this  year already like I am, don’t forget to play around with your look, and that there are several variations of stripes that make a great nautical look.

Beautiful Blue Floral Washi Tape for Planners

I just love these new washi tapes I go in the mail this week from Amazon. I had to order something for the kids so I decided might as well throw in something for myself, right?

This set was called Wrapables Sweet Dusk Washi Masking Tape, 10M by 15mm, Set of 3 and they were about $3 a roll, which is how much washi tape can tend to run so not outrageously over priced, but just about average.
I love getting washi tape from $1 spot at JoAnn and of course when it is on sale, but this was just a special treat and how I love it so.

teal turquoise and blue floral washi tape for planner, erin condrenThe two tapes on the right are from the set I just ordered from Amazon. The tape with the large blue flowers is from the clearance box at Walmart. That tape is scotch brand and is glossy a little different from the matte finish of the more traditional washi tape.

I think teal and turquoise must be my favorite colors. I could just look at these tapes all day, but instead I think I will look into making some wall art with these as inspiration.

blue floral washi tape styles decorative tape for planners in teal, turquoise and blue floralsI admit that my washi tape collection has recently outgrown the current storage arrangement I had, but that just gives me another project to look forward to. You can never have too much beautiful in your life right. Plus, having extra means there is plenty to share with all the little grabby hands around here. I let my 6 year old have a length of each of these when I was done taking this photo.

IMG_4633I wish that I could get out of the house and shop more, but I know that the more I go the more I spend so I am happy to have my once monthly excursions to go shopping for little things for my wardrobe and my planner. Makes everything you come home with seem like little treasures this way.

In the mean time I will stare at the beautiful pictures of washi tape and planners I find online and on Instagram and try to add my own beauty to the mix. Of course there is always online shopping, but I find I don’t have much time for that either.

Where is your favorite place to buy washi tape or other planner supplies? I have heard of communities on Facebook where you can get discounted washi tape, anyone a part of one of those? I would love to check that out.
